We’ve all been programmed to wait for the weekend as a stress-reliever and a break in our super fast paced lifestyles. But, we often find ourselves struggling so as to what to do in the weekends. Basically, How many movies will you watch? How much will you Netflix and Chill? How much will you binge eat and sleep? We all get bored of this as well. Oh! And that’s a problem we have here because you’re not supposed to be bored in the weekends but be rejuvenated.

You’ve got an overwhelming amount of options for things to do in and around Bengaluru. We’re here to sort you out with what you should be doing this weekend. Here’s a list of places you can head to and feel close to nature. From hills to dams to culturally important places.

Because what’s better than a gush of wind in the hair, some fresh oxygen in the system, beautiful sights in the eyes and melodious sounds in the ear.

1. Pondicherry

With a unique mix of spiritual culture and modern heritage, Pondicherry is the place to be. Go back to the French legacy preserved in French quarters, with streets lined with lush green trees and mustard coloured colonial villas. A seaside promenade to relax by the sea along with chic boutiques and great food.

Places to Visit: Auroville and Aurobindo Ashram, French Colony, Promenade beach and Botanical Garden

2. Kabini

Take in all the freshness at Kabini. It was once a private hunting area for the British but now serves as a beautiful tourist spot with a rich flora and fauna. Perfect for nature lovers with lush greenery, waterfalls, plantations and an abundance of wildlife.

Places to Visit: Kabini Dam, Nagarhole National Park, Bheemeshwari

3. Masinagudi

Find yourself lost in the wilderness on the foothills of the pristine Nilgiris at Masinagudi. A number of country style cottages offer spectacular views of the green-ladden mountains. Whats better than waking up in misty mornings and occasional rain showers.

Places to Visit: Vibudhimalai mountains, Plantations, Coonoor or Ooty.

4. Coorg

Coorg or Kodagu is the most known for its coffee plantations, hill and streams. This hill station in Tamil Nadu boasts of rich flora and fauna, lush green forests and views that take your breath away.

Distance from Bangalore: 260 KM

Places to Visit: Nagarhole National Park, Abbi Falls, Iruppu Falls, The Raja’s Seat, Madikeri Fort and Tibetan Buddhist Golden Temple.

5. Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is 2000 metres above the sea-level is a hill town in Tamil Nadu with forested valleys, lakes, waterfalls and grassy hills. The town is set up around a man-made, star-shaped Kodaikanal Lake, bordered by evergreen forest. Enjoy rowing boats or cycle on 5k Lake Road path around the shore.

Places to Visit: Kodai lake, Green Valley View, Pillar Rocks, Bear Shola Falls

6. Hampi

Let some culture run in the veins at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Hampi. Primarily known for its historical relevance it is a great destination for a taste of the hippie culture as well. For an enriching, cultural experience Hampi is the best place to be. Ancient boulders, temples, a majestic river and Anegudi build up a hippie haven.

Places to Visit: Vijaya Vittala Temple, Achyutaraya Temple, Ruins of Vijayanagara
