Manikankana Das

If you are an employer, you would know what it feels like to be hard pressed for time, funds, and most importantly, resources. This often leads to missing a beat that would eventually form the chords for your organisation’s success. Yes, we are talking about the employee training programmes that are not only time consuming but also require equal effort from your end to kick-start any project that you have laid your hands on. The below 5 tips will act as your guide when it comes to the employee training which simply doesn’t end with a formal induction process.
1. A Plan Always Comes In Handy
Every new job requires you to learn something or the other. Before you set up a training programme, make a list of the new things that they ought to learn, so as to take on the job at hand. If you do not have a proper plan, you may end up wasting your time as well as your employees’. What skills are you looking for? What do they lack and what data and facts should they be aware of? The answers for different employees may be different, and it is important that you divide them in groups so that time can be wisely utilised and the training can be successfully imparted.
2. Your Employees Can Be Trainers Too
There are some employees who have been loyal to your organisation and over the course of years have learnt a lot. Some of them may now be heading different departments. Use them as trainers to introduce the precise knowledge and values to the newbies so that they too gradually get acquainted not only with the rules and ethics, but also get to learn new skills that are required for the day-to-day jobs.
3. Consider Training As An Investment Plan
The moment you think of employee training as an investment plan for the future, you have achieved half of your target. Indeed, your employees are the assets of your organisation and just the way you invest in valuables, hoping that their worth would increase with time, you employees are part of an investment plan that would take your organisation to newer zeniths of success and recognition.
4. Reskilling by Training
With the changing business dynamics across all industries on a day-to-day basis, it doesn’t take long for skills to become outdated. People are on jobs today which did not exist 5 years ago, and it is this rapid change being brought around by the Industry dynamics which have lead to skills being outdated faster than the normal cycles. It is therefore advisable to be on top of the situation with reskilling on a regular basis to keep up with the trends because if you are not adaptable to the conditions, companies are not so accepting of your situations because of market dynamics.
5. Interaction is the key
It is important that your employees are well-acquainted with each other, especially the team members with whom they will be working. It should not just be like a ritual to show him or her around his new office and introduce him to his or her seniors as well as juniors. The new employees should feel connected and comfortable with his peers be it in the conference rooms or the cafeteria. That being said, it is important for employers to invoke team building exercises where employees get to interact with each other on aspects other than official work.
Dealing with the client can be exhausting, but more gruelling is dealing with a team that may be qualified and experienced, but not really trained for the mission at hand. A proper, first-hand training ensures that the employees understand their jobs in detail, which is crucial to making an assignment work. This becomes all the more relevant when you have a new recruit onboard.
